I started dragon boat racing when membership numbers were only two figures, and the boats being raced were heavy two piece units!
Why do I do it? I have seen and experienced the results of individuals from all different backgrounds coming together as one and achieving. It’s not all about winning – but it helps!

I started dragon boating when I began to approach the age of 50 (when life starts properly) and wanted to find a new pastime.
Eight years later I continue to be hooked! It’s a good, fun way of keeping fit and I have met some lovely people of all ages who all support each other and work as a team – both whilst paddling and on social outings.
I have been dragon boat racing for 6 years now!
My favourite memory of the Soaring Dragons was going to the National Finals with an unknown and untested team, and beating teams from the sport’s top league.
